What the roof estimate can tell you
Compare usable roof areas and estimated production. Keep the imagery date, shade and coverage limits in mind, especially if nearby construction has changed the view.
Mirasol · Los Cabos
Planning solar panels for a home in Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo or the Tourist Corridor? Mirasol uses your CFE bill and roof location to prepare an initial solar quote. Compare the proposed panel count, expected generation, installed cost and electricity you would still buy. Add battery backup if keeping equipment running during outages is part of your goal.

Your roof
Use the roof scan to explore your address. Where Google Solar coverage is available, it can show roof segments, estimated sunlight, panel layouts and annual generation. Check that the selected building is yours. A carport, neighboring roof or pool pergola can otherwise produce a convincing estimate for the wrong surface.

Confirm roof ownership, structural condition, mounting, waterproofing, electrical capacity and cable routes. Satellite coverage does not establish installation permission or structural suitability.
Three decisions
These goals need different designs. Start by choosing the problem you want to solve.
Review consumption history, tariff and when the home uses electricity. A/C schedules, pool pumps and seasonal occupancy affect how much solar you can use directly.
For outage backup, specify the loads, their combined power and required hours. Panels alone do not establish backup capability; the inverter, storage and transfer design must support it.
An off-grid home needs an appliance schedule, enough stored energy for the night and a plan for cloudy weather. Start with the off-grid guide: a rooftop estimate based on a CFE bill cannot size a complete off-grid system.
Compare the scope
Compare like-for-like proposals: module and inverter models, roof layout, mounting, electrical protection, labor, access, taxes and the work required for the intended grid connection. Ask which items are provisional until a site visit.
Confirm shading, waterproofing, structural fixing points and equipment access. Ask how the mounting and electrical equipment will be selected for the site's wind, heat and coastal exposure.
Request the generation and consumption assumptions, charges that remain on the CFE bill, cash price and total financing cost. A smaller monthly payment and a better lifetime return are different comparisons.
Identify who commissions the system, documents settings and warranties, and handles service. A panel warranty is different from an installation or inverter warranty.
Panel count
Start with an annual generation target and a production estimate for the actual roof. Then compare that generation with when you use electricity. A sunny roof and a high bill do not establish how much generation you can consume or how surplus energy will be treated.
| Input or step | Example |
|---|---|
| Assumed roof-specific annual production | 8,400 kWh from 14 panels |
| Production per panel in this example | 8,400 ÷ 14 = 600 kWh per year |
| Assumed annual generation target | 6,000 kWh |
| Arithmetic panel count | 6,000 ÷ 600 = 10 panels |
| Before turning this into a quote | Replace both assumptions with your roof estimate and consumption history; check timing, inverter limits and the applicable export arrangement. |
New construction
Send the location, roof plans, planned A/C models, pumps, cooking equipment, occupancy and target move-in date. Confirm whether the lot has an active CFE connection, a proposed connection or no utility service. Coordinate panel space, equipment location and electrical routes before the builder closes walls or finishes the roof.
Start here
A readable bill photo or PDF is enough to start. Tell us whether you live in the home year-round, visit seasonally or rent it to guests. The first analysis helps you decide whether to proceed; a site visit then checks the roof, electrical condition and work required.
For a Cabo San Lucas property, review roof rights, access, shade and the installation scope before comparing prices.
Account for seasonal occupancy, guests and community approvals when planning a San José del Cabo installation.
Find your tariff, kWh and history, then separate current energy charges from old balances before comparing quotes.
If outages are your priority, choose the appliances and backup hours before choosing battery capacity.
For a lot without CFE, prepare a load schedule and an autonomy plan instead of a bill-based rooftop estimate.

FAQ
The installed cost depends on system size, equipment, roof access, mounting, electrical work and whether storage is included. Request an itemized property-specific quote rather than applying a fixed price per bedroom.
Use your kWh history, consumption schedule, expected production per panel and usable unshaded roof area. Ask the proposal to explain its recommended panel count and the CFE purchases that would remain. House floor area alone cannot determine that count.
Do not assume that. The result depends on tariff, consumption timing, production, the agreed treatment of surplus energy and charges that remain. Compare estimated CFE purchases after solar with the system and financing costs.
A bill, location and roof photographs are useful for an initial review. Arrange property access and a local contact before a technical visit; a remote estimate is not a completed site assessment.
Give each company the same bills, address and backup requirements. Ask for equipment models, annual production assumptions, roof and electrical work, utility-contract scope, taxes, warranties and the service contact in writing. Compare total installed scope before comparing the price or monthly payment.
A battery is a separate design decision. Grid-connected panels may help supply daytime consumption without storage, while overnight use and outage backup require a different analysis. Confirm the inverter, transfer arrangement, usable battery energy and loads that would stay on.

Ready to start?
Upload a readable CFE bill and confirm the property location. Include A/C, pool and occupancy changes that the old bills do not reflect. A site assessment must confirm the roof, wiring and final installed scope.
