Daily and overnight energy: kWh
List power and operating hours. Illustrative example: an average 3 kW load running for 8 hours uses 24 kWh. This excludes losses, reserve, degradation and weather allowance; it is not a battery recommendation.
Mirasol · Los Cabos
Building in Zacatitos, Shipwrecks, La Fortuna or Vinorama? A home without utility power needs enough energy for the night and a plan for cloudy weather. Start with your lot, appliances and the months you will use the house. Check CFE availability for that lot; service varies within the East Cape.
Mirasol guide · Updated
Your lot
A coastal address does not tell you whether a home has utility service. A September 2026 Playa Tortuga homesite listing, for example, describes solar and generator power. That is evidence for that development, not a service map for the whole East Cape.
| Area or property | Start with this check |
|---|---|
| Zacatitos and Playa Tortuga | Confirm the lot's connection status and any existing panel, inverter, battery and generator specifications. |
| Shipwrecks, La Fortuna and Nine Palms | List occupied summer nights, A/C hours, water-pump starts and the service-access route. |
| Vinorama | Check delivery access, equipment-room conditions and the plan for days of low solar production. |
| La Ribera and Los Barriles | Obtain the property's utility and community requirements. Development activity does not establish a need for full off-grid power. |
System design
Panel watts are only part of the design. Work out how much energy you use each day, what runs at the same time and how long the house must operate when the panels cannot produce enough.

Cooling, pumps and cooking can overlap. The inverter and batteries must support continuous demand and starting surges. Stored energy in kWh does not establish available power.
Decide which appliances you can turn down when production drops, how much battery reserve to keep and how the batteries will recharge. Ask a qualified specialist whether the design needs a generator and how it would connect safely.
East Cape construction
Between Zacatitos and Vinorama, check the lot's utility service and access for deliveries and maintenance. Set aside space for panels and a protected equipment area while those decisions are still easy to change. Infrastructure varies from one property to the next.
List the A/C models, how many units will run, which rooms will be occupied and the overnight schedule. Guests may use the home differently than you do, so explain whether it will also be a vacation rental.
Coordinate equipment rooms, manufacturer ventilation requirements, cable distances, fixing points and service routes with the architect and installer. A roof image cannot replace site assessment.
Building sequence
Construction tools and the finished home's overnight loads are different requirements. Ask the builder and electrical designer to plan temporary power separately. An array selected for construction equipment may not provide enough stored energy for occupied summer nights.
| Build stage | Information or decision needed |
|---|---|
| Before final roof and electrical plans | Utility status, appliance schedule, panel area, protected battery location and service access. |
| Before walls and roof finishes close | Cable and conduit routes, mounting details, waterproofing responsibilities and generator provisions if required. |
| Before move-in | Verified loads, operating limits, commissioning, low-production procedure and the service contact. |
The proposal
Request equipment models, usable battery energy, power limits and the load and production assumptions. Separate equipment, electrical work, transport, mounting, taxes, commissioning and maintenance. Ask for a low-production operating plan rather than an unlimited-power promise.
Your location
Mirasol focuses on Los Cabos. For East Cape and other BCS locations, share the site and work required so we can confirm whether we can assess it. The installation crew, delivery date and the lot's CFE service need separate confirmation.
Understand usable energy, starting power and runtime when defining your overnight loads.
If CFE can serve the lot, compare the scope of grid-connected solar before choosing full autonomy.
Compare new-build solar on the Pacific side, where a property may need grid-connected savings, backup or a complete autonomous supply.
Include cistern and pressure-pump starting loads, and calculate water storage separately from battery runtime.
FAQ
Yes. Share the location, plans, equipment list, operating hours and build stage. An autonomous-system proposal needs validated loads and site conditions; the automatic bill-based rooftop estimate is not an off-grid design.
It can be designed for that goal. Check overnight energy, simultaneous demand, starting loads, usable storage and poor-weather production. Panel count alone does not guarantee overnight cooling.
Cost depends on loads, autonomy, equipment, site work and access. Request the assumptions and exclusions in writing. A package for grid-connected panels without storage is not an equivalent comparison.
No. The regional electricity system and an individual property's connection are different things. A home can have CFE service within the regional grid; verify the lot's actual connection before deciding on autonomous power.
Some properties may need autonomous power, while others have utility service and need savings or outage backup. Start with the exact lot's service status. The Cerritos, Todos Santos and Pescadero guide explains the different information required for new homes, condos and existing houses.
A generator can form part of an off-grid design, but it changes fuel, maintenance, noise and operating requirements. A specialist must size and integrate it with compatible equipment. Compare the same loads and low-production scenario when reviewing alternatives.
